The Lower Paxton Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization, incorporated in Pennsylvania, recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)3 organization.
Our purpose is to provide a funding mechanism for existing and future projects and organizations within the Township of Lower Paxton, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
Many community projects can benefit from the advantages of a 501(c)3 organization, but do not have the resources or longevity to justify the creation of a dedicated foundation.
The Lower Paxton Community Foundation provides the permanent ongoing support and structure for these projects.
All activities are conducted in accordance with Local, State, and Federal law.
We provide a funding mechanism for existing and future projects and organizations within the Township of Lower Paxton, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
We will continue to create community events that bring our neighborhoods together and create a sense of belonging for all our residents.
2013, Polly Murphy and Pam Jones began to organize a celebration for the Village of Linglestown's 250th birthday.
2014, John Hanks, Jr and Chris Lunden, Make It Happen Events, joined the team.
2015, a dedicated ad hock group of more than 2 dozen citizen volunteers organized a parade and 2 day community celebration for the Village.
The community came together to help and had a great time, making new friends and renewing old relationships. How can things continue?
2017, the same group led a 250th celebration for the entire Township of Lower Paxton in George Park, Paxtonia, designed to create a greater sense of community.
2018, we launched the non-profit Lower Paxton Community Foundation to continue these efforts with Representative (ret) Ron Marsico as Chairman. At the Linglestown LACA Tree Lighting we held a Christkindlmarkt Preview.
2019, the first Lower Paxton Christkindlmarkt was celebrated with 44 hand crafted vendors, live music and dance and a living nativity in the Village of Linglestown. Spooky Stories to Tell In the Dark presents seasonal tales to kids and their families.
2020, During Covid, the CKM committee continued to meet online, and presented a modified version, with a Drive Thru Santa Experience, online Vender Market, and community door decorating competition. Spooky Stories to Tell in the Dark moves online.
2021, Dauphin County Heroes Grove celebrated the completion of Stage 2 with an Independence Weekend Celebration. In 2023 the Foundation partnered to launch an annual celebration of our nation.
2022, the Foundation provides financial tools for Miles Connelly's Eagle Scout Project in Centennial Acres Park, the first of other community projects.
2023, the Polly Murphy Spirit of Volunteerism Awards were launched with an initial class.
We continue to keep the community spirit going with community building, educational events and projects.
The organization is a funding tool for community activities in order to advance our mission. All activities are conducted in accordance with Local, State, and Federal law.
